Goodland, KS – Colorado residents in Kit Carson and Cheyenne Counties can expect up to 3 inches of snow by Saturday afternoon. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory effective through 2 p.m. MST Saturday.

According to the advisory, powdery snow and blowing wind will create slick road conditions and reduced visibility. The western areas of Kit Carson and Cheyenne Counties are predicted to see the highest accumulation totals. Snow began falling Friday evening and will persist through Saturday morning, impacting early weekend travel.

Drivers on Interstate 70 should anticipate travel delays and hazardous conditions. Officials warn against relying on GPS for alternate routes and urge drivers to avoid bypassing barricades.

The National Weather Service advises slowing down, turning off cruise control, and driving cautiously. Powdery snow is likely to blow into roadways, increasing danger for drivers throughout the region.

Travelers can call 511 for updates on road conditions in Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado. Stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel until the advisory expires.

Be sure to prepare for potential delays and hazardous driving through Saturday afternoon.
