Pueblo, Colorado – Saturday brings another round of afternoon thunderstorms across southern Colorado, with storms expected to spark in the mountains and spread eastward into the I-25 corridor by evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, showers and storms will begin forming in the high country early Saturday afternoon and push into lower elevations — including Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and La Junta — by 4 to 7 p.m. The region remains warm, with highs ranging from the upper 70s to mid-80s.
Stronger storms could pack a punch, producing nickel-sized hail, wind gusts over 50 mph, lightning, and brief but heavy rainfall. Areas along and southeast of I-25, including Highway 50 near Fowler and Highway 160 near Walsenburg, could see slick roads and isolated flooding.
If you’re headed outdoors, keep an eye on the skies and have a backup plan. Storms could disrupt late-day sports, errands, or travel — especially in areas with poor drainage or high terrain runoff.
Warm weather sticks around through Monday before a midweek cooldown. For now, expect another classic Colorado afternoon: sunny start, stormy finish. More storm watches may be issued later today.
