Dubuque, IA – A winter weather advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. to noon Saturday, warning of freezing rain and hazardous road conditions across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois.

According to the National Weather Service, residents in Dubuque, Clinton, and surrounding counties should prepare for ice accumulations of up to 0.2 inches. Winds gusting up to 30 mph may stress tree branches and increase the potential for localized power outages.

Temperatures are expected to rise quickly late Saturday morning, helping ice melt by the afternoon. Until then, roads and sidewalks may become slippery, posing risks for drivers and pedestrians.

The advisory also includes Jo Daviess, Carroll, and Whiteside Counties in Illinois. Motorists are urged to slow down and check road conditions before traveling. State road updates can be accessed by calling 511.

Residents are advised to stay indoors if possible and prepare for potential power disruptions by charging devices and stocking essentials.
