Sarasota, Florida – Multiple people were found dead following a shooting inside a Sarasota home Tuesday afternoon, prompting a large law enforcement response and road closures in the surrounding neighborhood.
According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call at 12:24 p.m. reporting a shooting at a residence in the Amberlea subdivision. Deputies arrived on scene approximately five minutes later, at 12:29 p.m., and discovered multiple victims inside the home.
Authorities said no survivors were located, and all victims were pronounced deceased at the scene. As of Tuesday evening, none of the victims had been identified and next-of-kin notifications had not yet been made. Investigators said they could not confirm whether all victims were adults or whether the individuals involved knew one another.
Sheriff’s officials stated the incident appears to be isolated, and they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public. Police said they are not searching for any additional suspects and believe all individuals involved have been accounted for.
The shooting occurred at 4822 Fallcrest Circle, and deputies established a heavy law enforcement presence in the area. Proctor Road was closed between McIntosh Road and Honore Avenue, and residents were urged to avoid the area. Nearby schools were notified, and parents were alerted through emails and phone calls, authorities said.
Investigators recovered at least one weapon from the scene, though officials did not specify how many weapons may have been involved or how they were connected to the incident. There were no signs of forced entry, deputies said.
Multiple agencies and specialized units are assisting with the investigation, including crime scene forensics teams, criminal investigators, victim advocates, patrol units, and an unmanned aircraft system conducting overhead searches. Detectives are also interviewing neighbors and reviewing potential surveillance footage, including doorbell cameras.
Deputies established a staging area at Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church near Harris and Proctor roads, where briefings and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
