Portland, Ore. – Snow is expected to impact Cascade mountain passes through 4 a.m. Thursday, creating winter driving conditions across parts of Oregon.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, the heaviest snowfall is forecast over the Central Oregon Cascades, with Santiam and Willamette passes specifically identified as areas likely to see travel impacts.

Forecasters warned that slick roads and low visibility may make driving difficult overnight. Snow-covered highways and chain requirements are possible, particularly at higher elevations.

Drivers planning late-night or early-morning travel through the Cascades are urged to check current conditions before departing. Oregon road conditions and chain restrictions are available by dialing 5-1-1 or visiting TripCheck.com. Washington travelers can monitor conditions at WSDOT.com/traffic.

The advisory runs through early Thursday morning, March 5, with conditions expected to evolve as snowfall continues overnight.

Mountain corridors serve as key east-west travel routes for freight, commuters and early spring recreation traffic, and weather-related slowdowns could affect overnight shipments and morning travel plans.

Additional updates will be issued as conditions change.
