Santa Barbara, Calif. – Residents in the Santa Ynez Mountains face a dangerous combination of extreme heat and strong winds through Tuesday evening, with temperatures soaring to 105 degrees in foothill areas and wind gusts approaching 45 mph. The National Weather Service warns that conditions could lead to power outages, fallen tree limbs, and heat-related illnesses.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, the Heat Advisory remains in effect until 9 p.m. Tuesday, while the Wind Advisory will last until 3 a.m. Tuesday. High elevations are expected to reach the 80s and 90s, while lower elevations and foothills may see highs near 105. Overnight lows will offer little relief, staying in the 70s to low 80s.

High-profile vehicles should use extra caution on mountain roads, especially along Highway 154 near San Marcos Pass where wind exposure is greatest. Residents are urged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning if possible, and limit outdoor activity to early morning or evening.

Warnings remain in effect until Tuesday night, with conditions expected to ease by midweek.
