Gentryville, IN – A Spencer County man is in custody following a shooting incident in Gentryville early Wednesday morning.

According to Indiana State Police, officers responded around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a man firing shots outside a residence in Gentryville. Authorities said the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Kody R. Curtsinger, was later found at his home by the Santa Claus Police Department and taken into custody.

Investigators said the residence in question had been struck with multiple small-caliber rounds. Two people were inside at the time, but no one was injured. Police obtained a search warrant for Curtsinger’s home, where they allegedly found several suspected explosive devices. The Indiana State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was called to safely remove and dispose of the items.

Curtsinger was booked into the Spencer County Jail, where he is being held without bond. He faces multiple felony charges, including five counts of possession of a destructive device, criminal recklessness with a firearm, and pointing a loaded firearm.

The case is being investigated by Detective Troy Fischer with assistance from multiple state and county officers. Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible.
