Santa Barbara, CA – A Wind Advisory remains in effect for Santa Barbara County and nearby mountain passes through 6 a.m. Monday, as strong northwest to north winds continue across the Central Coast and Interstate 5 Corridor, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Los Angeles/Oxnard.
The advisory covers the Santa Ynez Mountains, the Santa Barbara County Southwestern Coast, and stretches through Pyramid Lake, Gorman, and Tejon Pass along I-5. Winds are expected to range between 20 and 35 mph, with gusts up to 50 to 55 mph in exposed areas.
Forecasters note that winds will ease slightly this morning before strengthening again late Sunday afternoon into Monday morning, particularly along coastal slopes and canyons. “Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects, and a few power outages may result,” the NWS cautioned early Sunday.
Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, are urged to use extra caution on wind-prone highways, including Highway 101 near Gaviota Pass and Interstate 5 through Tejon Pass.
Winds are expected to diminish by mid-morning Monday, though breezy conditions could linger across higher elevations into the afternoon.
