Saint George, SC – Dorchester County residents will have another opportunity to collect sandbags on Sunday, Sept. 28, as officials extend distribution hours to help households prepare for potential flooding.
According to the Dorchester County Government, sandbag sites will operate from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following six locations:
- Harleyville Town Hall (122 W. Main St., Harleyville)
- Ridgeville Town Hall (105 School St., Ridgeville)
- Davis-Bailey Park (Academy Road Lot)
- Oakbrook Middle School (286 Old Fort Drive, Ladson)
- Parking lot next to Memorial Stadium/John McKissick Field, Summerville
- Magnolia Street in Summerville (behind Summerville Elementary, in front of Spann Elementary)
County officials emphasized that residents must bring their own shovels and be prepared to fill sandbags. Distribution will be first-come, first-served, with a limit of 10 bags per household or business.
The county noted it will replenish supplies when possible, but encouraged residents to also consider hardware and home improvement stores if additional sandbags are needed.
The effort comes as the region faces an increased risk of heavy rainfall early next week, raising concerns about flash and urban flooding.
