Alamosa, CO – Residents in the San Luis Valley are waking up to a chilly morning as the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Frost Advisory through 9 a.m. Monday. Temperatures are expected to dip into the mid-30s, bringing a risk of frost across the agricultural region.
According to the NWS Pueblo office, temperatures between 33 and 36 degrees, combined with clear skies and light winds, are creating conditions favorable for frost development. The advisory was issued at 2:49 a.m. Monday and warns that sensitive outdoor vegetation may be damaged if left unprotected.
The advisory spans the San Luis Valley, including Alamosa, Monte Vista, and surrounding rural communities. Overnight lows in the area are forecast to hover just above freezing, making frost formation likely in low-lying areas.
The weather service recommends covering outdoor plants, bringing sensitive vegetation inside when possible, and taking steps to protect gardens and crops. For many growers in the San Luis Valley, this early-season frost poses a risk to harvests still underway.
The advisory will remain in effect until 9 a.m. Monday morning, when temperatures are expected to climb into the 60s under sunny skies.
