Pueblo, CO – Residents of the San Luis Valley should prepare for an early taste of cold weather as the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo has issued a Frost Advisory for late tonight into Wednesday morning.

According to the NWS, temperatures are forecast to fall between 32 and 35 degrees across most of the valley, with a few colder pockets dropping as low as 30 degrees. The advisory will be in effect from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. MDT Wednesday.

Communities affected include Alamosa, Monte Vista, Del Norte, Manassa, Antonito, San Luis, Sanford, Blanca, La Jara, Fort Garland, and Center.

Meteorologists caution that the cold could damage or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if not protected. Homeowners are advised to cover tender plants, bring potted vegetation indoors, or use frost cloths and coverings to reduce damage.

The advisory is limited to the San Luis Valley below 8,500 feet, where conditions are most favorable for frost formation. Residents planning early-morning activities should also prepare for the chill.

The NWS encourages residents to take protective steps tonight to reduce the impact of the expected frost.
