Hanford, Calif. – Dangerous triple-digit heat will bear down on the San Joaquin Valley starting Friday morning, with temperatures climbing as high as 106 degrees and overnight lows staying uncomfortably warm, between 75 and 80. The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch that will remain in effect through Sunday morning.

According to the Weather Service office in Hanford, the watch covers much of the San Joaquin Valley, including Fresno, Bakersfield, Visalia, Hanford, Porterville, and surrounding foothill communities. Residents in the West Side Mountains, Kings County, and portions of Kern County should also prepare for dangerously hot afternoons and unusually warm nights.

Heat-related illnesses are a serious risk during this stretch, especially for outdoor workers, the elderly, and young children. Local emergency officials urge residents to drink water frequently, seek out air-conditioned spaces, and check on neighbors who may be vulnerable. Car interiors can become deadly within minutes—children and pets must never be left inside unattended vehicles.

The heat wave is expected to ease after Sunday, but forecasters caution that additional advisories may follow if the hot pattern lingers into next week.
