San Francisco, California – Coastal winds are picking up across the Bay Area as San Francisco faces several breezy afternoons and cooler-than-average temperatures through early next week. Daytime gusts could top 30 mph, especially through Saturday, making for choppy bay conditions and challenging travel on bridges.

According to the National Weather Service, westerly winds will steadily increase through Friday and Saturday, with afternoon speeds reaching up to 24 mph and gusts potentially near 30 mph. Nighttime wind gusts may remain around 25 mph, especially along the coast and through the city’s western neighborhoods.

Highs will hover in the upper 60s to low 70s, with most days seeing a mix of sunshine and patchy cloud cover. Saturday afternoon could feel particularly breezy, with gusts up to 30 mph expected near the Golden Gate and on exposed roadways like Highway 1 and 101.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor furniture and exercise caution on elevated roads and while biking near the coast. While no advisories are currently posted, forecasters warn that stronger gusts could prompt brief wind alerts through the weekend.

Winds should ease slightly by Tuesday, but mostly cloudy skies will linger at night through midweek.
