San Francisco, CA – A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through 11 AM today for parts of the San Francisco Peninsula Coast, Monterey Bay, Big Sur Coast, and northern Salinas Valley, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Bay Area.
The NWS reports that visibility could drop below one-quarter mile in dense fog, creating hazardous driving conditions across the region. Coastal communities from San Francisco to Monterey may experience slowdowns on Highway 1 and nearby routes during the morning commute.
According to forecasters, drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles. Commuters should plan for additional travel time until the fog lifts later in the morning.
The advisory affects key travel corridors including Highway 101, Highway 17, and the Pacific Coast Highway, where fog is expected to gradually clear by late morning as temperatures rise.
Motorists are encouraged to check Caltrans road updates and allow extra time for safe travel until the advisory expires.
