SAN FRANCISCO – A chilly mid-October morning is unfolding across the Bay Area as isolated showers taper off and skies begin to clear. After a night of scattered light rain, brisk northwest breezes and lingering moisture will make the day feel cooler than normal for this time of year.
According to the National Weather Service San Francisco Bay Area, early morning radar showed the last pockets of rain moving east of the region, leaving behind damp roads from Santa Rosa to San Jose. Highs today will stay in the upper 50s to low 60s under partly sunny skies, with cooler air settling in behind the departing system.
Another cold night is expected, with lows dipping into the low to mid-40s inland and upper 40s near the coast. The NWS cautions that clear skies will allow temperatures to fall quickly after sunset, especially in the North Bay valleys and the Santa Cruz Mountains, where patchy fog or light frost may develop by dawn Thursday.
Residents are advised to dress in layers and give themselves extra time on slick roads during the morning commute. Those heading out for evening events should plan for temperatures dropping into the 40s after dark.
