San Francisco, CA – Minor coastal flooding is expected across San Francisco and surrounding shoreline communities late Tuesday, with high tide bringing inundation threats to roads, lots, and low-lying neighborhoods until 1 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday for the San Francisco Bay Shoreline and North Bay Interior Valleys. The San Francisco tidal gauge is forecast to reach 6.95 feet at 9:57 p.m., roughly 1.1 feet above normal. This may result in up to one foot of floodwater in vulnerable zones.

Drivers should avoid shoreline roads and tidal areas like Embarcadero, Mill Valley shoreline roads, and low-lying spots near Sausalito and Richmond. Some roads may close briefly due to pooling, though widespread closures are not expected.

The NWS warns against driving through standing water and recommends preparing flood-prone property for brief high tide flooding. Extra time should be allotted for evening commutes or late-night travel through coastal neighborhoods.

This marks the highest tide of the week, but elevated tides could continue impacting the region through midweek. Stay tuned for additional advisories if water levels remain above seasonal averages.
