San Francisco, California – Drivers across the Bay Area could face sudden crosswinds and slick roads by Saturday afternoon as a শক্ত Pacific storm pushes inland with gusts nearing 40 mph along the coast and mountain passes.
According to the National Weather Service in the Bay Area, showers begin Friday with isolated thunderstorms, but the most impactful rain band arrives by Saturday afternoon and continues through early Sunday. Wind gusts are expected to peak between 30 and 40 mph in exposed areas like Pacifica, Point Reyes, and Altamont Pass, with urban centers such as San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose seeing gusts between 20 and 30 mph.
Rainfall totals will vary sharply by location. Coastal ranges and areas like Santa Cruz, Big Sur, and Santa Rosa could pick up 1.5 to 2 inches of rain, while inland valleys including Livermore and San Jose may see closer to 0.5 to 1 inch. Heavier bursts could briefly reduce visibility below a half mile and create ponding on major routes including Highway 101 and I-880.
Travelers should secure loose outdoor items, avoid high-profile vehicles on exposed roadways, and charge devices ahead of possible isolated outages. Gusty conditions may down small branches, especially in saturated soils.
Rain tapers by Sunday morning, but additional advisories may follow if stronger cells develop overnight Saturday.
