San Francisco, CA — Beachgoers in San Francisco should remain cautious through Monday evening as spring surf conditions bring increased danger to the California coast.

According to the National Weather Service, a Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect from 11 a.m. Sunday, April 6, until 11 p.m. Monday, April 7, due to elevated surf and strong rip currents. Swimmers, surfers, and shoreline walkers are advised to avoid steep beaches and remain alert for sneaker waves. Popular coastal areas like Ocean Beach, Baker Beach, and Pacifica State Beach are expected to be affected.

Light winds and mostly sunny skies will dominate Monday’s forecast, with a high near 65°F and cloud cover building into the night. Monday night will remain mostly cloudy with a low around 50°F, and winds from the west between 5 and 8 mph could make coastal conditions more unpredictable.

Tuesday will bring sunny skies and a high of 65°F, followed by a cooler night near 50°F. Wednesday looks warmer, with highs climbing to 71°F, providing a break from the cloudier start of the week. The weather will stay mild and dry into Thursday and Friday.

Drivers along California Highway 1 should stay alert for sudden changes in visibility near the shoreline and possible sand blowing across lanes. Visitors to the coast should observe posted signs and never turn their back on the ocean.

Five-Day San Francisco Spring Outlook:

  • Monday: Mostly cloudy, high 65°F.
  • Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, low 50°F.
  • Tuesday: Sunny, high 65°F.
