San Francisco, CA – A Red Flag Warning has been issued for San Francisco and surrounding Bay Area regions starting Thursday night through Saturday evening due to strong offshore winds and extremely dry conditions. The National Weather Service warns that gusty winds could reach up to 45 mph in certain areas, with isolated gusts as high as 65 mph in higher terrains such as the North Bay Interior Mountains and the Diablo Range.

The warning goes into effect at 11 p.m. Thursday and will remain active until 5 p.m. Saturday. These winds, combined with relative humidity levels dropping as low as 12%, create critical fire conditions that could lead to rapid fire spread should any ignition occur. Residents in the affected areas are advised to avoid outdoor activities that might generate sparks and to be prepared for possible fire restrictions.

Communities throughout the Bay Area, including those in the Santa Cruz Mountains, East Bay Hills, and Marin Coastal Range, should stay alert for any emergency notifications. It is crucial to secure any outdoor objects that could be affected by high winds and ensure that all emergency plans are up-to-date.

The weather is expected to remain dry and breezy, with sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s forecasted through the weekend.
