The City of San Francisco has issued a ‘shelter-in-place’ order amid the COVID-19 pandemic that is scheduled to lift April 7th.  New York City is considering issuing a similar order in the next 48 hours.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed and six officials from other Bay Area counties announced similar orders, calling for people to stay at home for all but “essential needs” for the next three weeks, coming to a close on April 7th.

The ruling falls just short of a full lockdown, which would forbid people from leaving their homes without explicit permission.

Earlier today it was announced a full outbreak of COVID-19 had occurred at a nursing facility in Willowbrook, IL, causing 21 to test positive for the virus, including 17 residents at the facility.
