SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Light showers will brush the Bay Area early this week before sunshine and warmer weather return by midweek. A weak Pacific system will bring scattered rain overnight and into Tuesday morning, but most areas will dry out quickly by midday.
According to the National Weather Service in Monterey, rain chances near 40 percent will persist through early Tuesday, with only trace to light accumulations expected. Skies will clear gradually, leading to bright afternoons and mild highs in the mid-60s by Wednesday. Winds will remain light, shifting from south to northwest at 5 to 10 mph.
After the damp start, a high-pressure ridge will settle over Northern California by Thursday, ushering in several days of sunshine and a steady warming trend. Highs will climb into the upper 60s to low 70s by Friday and mid-70s over the weekend. Lows will stay cool in the low to mid-50s under mostly clear skies.
Commuters on the Bay Bridge, I-280, and U.S. 101 may encounter brief slick spots Tuesday morning before roads dry out later in the day. Air quality and visibility will improve midweek, making for ideal fall conditions across the city and peninsula.
According to forecasters, the region should stay dry through early next week with no additional storms on the horizon.
