SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – A developing Pacific storm system could deliver the Bay Area’s first notable rain of the fall season early next week, bringing wet roads, gusty winds, and minor flooding concerns from Santa Rosa to Monterey. The low-pressure system, now forming off the Pacific Northwest, is forecast to track south and move along the California coast by late Monday.

According to the National Weather Service San Francisco Bay Area office, moderate confidence exists that the system will produce widespread rainfall from early Monday through Wednesday morning, with potential totals near one inch in parts of the North Bay and along the Central Coast. Light to moderate rain may linger into midweek, especially in coastal and hilly areas.

Forecasters warn of slick roadways and rising water on creeks and streams. Minor flooding could affect low-lying intersections and underpasses during heavier downpours. Winds could gust over 25 mph along the coast and higher ridges, and a few thunderstorms are possible south of San Francisco late Monday night.

Drivers are urged to slow down and allow extra travel time during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes. Residents should clear storm drains, secure outdoor items, and monitor updates as rainfall timing and totals become clearer over the weekend.
