San Francisco, CA – A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect this morning for the North Bay interior valleys, where visibility has dropped below half a mile, creating hazardous travel conditions for early commuters.

According to the US National Weather Service San Francisco Bay Area, the advisory remains active through 10 a.m. Friday, impacting areas including Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Sonoma, Calistoga, and Novato. The fog is expected to gradually lift late in the morning as temperatures rise and winds increase.

Drivers are urged to reduce speed, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles. Officials caution that sudden drops in visibility can occur, particularly along Highways 101, 37, and 12, where travel may be slow or delayed during the morning rush.

The rest of the day will bring partly sunny skies and seasonable temperatures, but forecasters note that another round of fog could form again late tonight into early Saturday, especially in valley locations.
