San Francisco, Calif. – After a stretch of warm inland afternoons, much of the Bay Area will see a noticeable cool-down this week, with coastal highs settling into the 60s and inland areas dipping into the upper 70s and low 80s by Thursday. Marine layer influence will deepen midweek, bringing below-normal temperatures to most coastal and bayfront communities.
According to the National Weather Service, Big Sur, Monterey, and Pacifica will hover in the low to mid-60s through the weekend, while inland hubs like Livermore, Morgan Hill, and Gilroy will see highs drop from the upper 80s and low 90s Tuesday into the low 80s by Friday. The cooling will be most noticeable for typically warm cities such as Concord and Cloverdale, which will see highs fall nearly 10 degrees from Tuesday to Thursday.
Morning low clouds and patchy fog may slow the commute along Highways 1 and 101, particularly near the coast. Residents are encouraged to dress in layers and be prepared for breezy afternoons along the shoreline.
The National Weather Service notes this cooler pattern could persist into early next week, especially for coastal and bayside locations.
