San Francisco, CA – Residents across the Bay Area and Central Coast should prepare for possible thunderstorms beginning Tuesday night and lasting through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco Bay Area.

The NWS said lightning and gusty winds are the main hazards, with isolated storms possible across the San Mateo Peninsula, East Bay, South Bay, and Central Coast. While widespread severe weather is not expected, lightning strikes and brief wind gusts could cause minor travel or outdoor safety concerns.

According to forecasters, the storms are expected to develop overnight Tuesday and move across coastal and inland valleys through Wednesday morning. The NWS classified the weather risk as “minor,” but still urges caution for outdoor workers, hikers, and drivers.

“Stay weather aware,” the agency advised. “When thunder roars, go indoors! See a flash, dash inside!”

Local residents should monitor NOAA Weather Radio and NWS Bay Area social media for the latest forecasts and any advisories that may be issued if conditions worsen.
