Dublin, CA – A second minor earthquake rattled Northern California early Tuesday morning, striking just hours after a separate tremor near Los Banos late Monday.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck about 5 kilometers west-northwest of Dublin, at a depth of 11.5 kilometers. Over 370 residents reported feeling light shaking across the East Bay, including San Ramon, Pleasanton, and Fremont.
The quake occurred just north of Interstate 580, near residential and commercial areas. It follows a 3.6 magnitude earthquake centered in the San Luis Reservoir region earlier in the evening, roughly 75 miles southeast. While both quakes were minor and caused no damage, seismologists are monitoring for any related activity across the regional fault system.
Residents across the Bay Area reported brief, jolting motion. No alerts were issued by ShakeAlert, and no injuries have been reported. Experts say shallow and moderate-depth quakes like these are common in the region and serve as a reminder to secure heavy items and refresh emergency kits.
No aftershocks have been detected as of Tuesday morning, but local agencies are on alert for continued seismic activity.
