San Francisco, Calif. – Dry air and gusty winds will combine to heighten fire danger across the Bay Area on Saturday, particularly in the East Bay hills and interior valleys. Afternoon and evening conditions could allow small sparks to spread quickly, increasing the risk of fast-moving wildfires.

According to the National Weather Service in Monterey, peak wind gusts are expected to reach 25 to 35 mph in higher elevations, while relative humidity will dip below 20 percent in some inland locations. The combination of strong onshore flow and low moisture is prompting elevated fire weather concerns across the region.

Communities from Concord to Livermore and south toward Hollister and King City will be most at risk. Fire officials warn residents to avoid outdoor burning, secure equipment that may throw sparks, and make sure campfires are fully extinguished. Cal Fire stresses that even routine activities like mowing dry grass or discarding cigarette butts could ignite a blaze.

The threat is expected to ease by late Saturday night as winds weaken and humidity slowly rebounds. More advisories may be issued if conditions persist into early next week.
