San Francisco, CA – Gusty winds and dropping humidity have pushed fire weather concerns higher across the Bay Area, raising the risk of fast-spreading wildfires through Monday. According to the National Weather Service, minor fire weather risk levels are in effect as onshore winds combine with dry air to create conditions where even a small spark could trigger a wildfire.

Communities from San Francisco to Monterey, including the East Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains, are urged to take extra precautions. Fire agencies recommend properly disposing of cigarettes and matches, avoiding equipment that may produce sparks, and ensuring all campfires are fully extinguished before leaving any area. Local burn bans remain in effect, and residents should only burn with a permit.

Outdoor activities that involve open flame or power tools are discouraged until humidity levels rise and winds subside. The risk is highest during the late afternoon and evening when winds peak. Fire officials emphasize that the combination of dry grass, low humidity, and gusty winds can allow fires to ignite and spread quickly—so vigilance is key.

Elevated fire weather concerns remain in place until Monday night, with the potential for additional advisories if winds persist into early Tuesday.
