San Diego, Calif. – Patchy fog is expected to blanket parts of San Diego through Tuesday night, bringing reduced visibility along coastal routes and cooler mornings across the region. Drivers may encounter low visibility conditions before sunrise, especially near the bay and along Interstate 5.
According to the National Weather Service, skies will remain cloudy into Saturday before gradually turning partly sunny in the afternoon, with highs in the lower 70s. Nighttime lows will hover in the mid-60s, with increasing cloud cover and calm winds. Sunday and Monday will follow a similar pattern, with daytime highs reaching the mid-70s and clouds lingering into the evening.
Areas most affected include the San Diego coast, Mission Valley, and Chula Vista, where fog may slow morning commutes. The inland valleys and foothills should see more sunshine but will still experience cooler-than-normal conditions for mid-August.
Residents are advised to use low beams when driving through fog and allow extra travel time during the morning hours. Air travelers should also check with airlines for potential delays at San Diego International Airport if fog reduces runway visibility.
Conditions are expected to improve by midweek, with gradual clearing and warmer afternoons by Wednesday.
