San Diego, CA – A winter storm watch remains in effect for the San Diego County Mountains, with significant snow accumulation expected from Sunday morning through Tuesday morning.
The National Weather Service predicts 2 to 4 inches of wet snow above 4,500 feet, with localized totals reaching up to 9 inches above 5,500 feet. Julian and Pine Valley are among the communities likely to see hazardous travel conditions due to snow-covered and slick roads.
Officials warn that bridges and overpasses could become particularly treacherous during the storm. The snow and icy conditions are expected to disrupt Monday’s morning and evening commutes.
Travelers are advised to delay trips if possible or proceed with extreme caution. Those who must drive should carry a winter storm kit that includes tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, and extra clothing. Emergency supplies like water and a first aid kit are also recommended in case of being stranded.
