California wakes up wrapped in mist, with headlights fading into gray walls along coastal highways and inland valleys. Moist air clings low to the ground, turning routine drives into cautious crawls across parts of San Diego County this morning.

According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until mid-morning for coastal areas and inland valleys across San Diego and Orange counties. Visibility has dropped to one-quarter mile or less in spots, including near Escondido, El Cajon, Vista, Poway, Santee, and coastal corridors. The advisory also includes portions of Orange County, where fog has pooled against higher coastal terrain.

Drivers along I-5, I-805, I-15, and Highway 78 may encounter sudden visibility drops, especially near canyons and low-lying areas. Calm winds and high humidity are allowing fog to linger longer than usual. Officials urge motorists to slow down, use headlights, and leave extra space between vehicles during the morning commute.

As fog lifts later this morning, clouds hold on through much of the day. Temperatures warm into the mid to upper 60s, keeping conditions mild but subdued. A weak pattern settles in late Thursday and Friday, bringing isolated shower chances, mainly light and spotty. While rainfall amounts stay limited, damp pavement could still cause slick travel during evening hours.

The weekend trends drier and brighter. Saturday brings partial sunshine with highs near the mid-60s, followed by warmer and sunnier conditions Sunday. Morning fog remains possible near the coast, but afternoons improve steadily.

Looking ahead, the 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures for Southern California, while more active winter weather targets the central and eastern U.S.
