San Diego, CA – A soft, silvery haze rolled across San Diego’s coastline before sunrise, muting the skyline and dimming headlights along I-5 and the Pacific Coast Highway. The familiar marine layer has settled back in, keeping visibility low near the beaches and foothills early today before the sun burns through by midmorning.
According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, patchy fog will linger through 7 a.m. Friday, followed by a stretch of sunny and seasonable weather lasting through the weekend. Highs will hover near 70°F along the coast and the upper 60s inland, with calm winds and crisp mornings around 50°F.
Saturday and Sunday bring more of the same — fog early, sunshine late — as high pressure builds along the Pacific. Conditions will stay mild through Monday, offering ideal weather for post-Thanksgiving travel or outdoor holiday plans. By midweek, however, models show an early-December shift as cooler Pacific air and scattered showers approach from the northwest.
If you’re heading out before sunrise, keep headlights on low beam and allow extra distance — fog can thicken quickly along canyons and coastal routes. Afternoon skies should clear for those decorating, hiking, or traveling back north after the long weekend.
Calm now, but this mild pattern won’t last long — December’s first cold front could arrive before next weekend.
