Golden light filters over the San Diego coastline this morning as December feels more like early fall. Clear skies and calm air make for a postcard start, but meteorologists note that this stretch of warmth won’t last forever. A gradual cooldown is on the way by Thursday, bringing back the familiar coastal chill and a touch of fog.

According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, temperatures will climb near 80°F across the city today under full sunshine and light northeast winds. The warmth lingers through midweek, with highs still near 76°F Wednesday before dipping slightly into the low 70s by Thursday and Friday. Skies will stay mostly clear through Thursday night, but patchy fog could form along coastal routes by early Friday morning.

Drivers are advised to plan for slower commutes late in the week as fog may reduce visibility on I-5, I-8, and Highway 163 during the morning rush. The late-week pattern will also bring cooler overnight lows in the low 50s, creating mild but crisp mornings heading into the weekend.

By Sunday, clouds may increase slightly, but no rainfall is expected as high pressure remains dominant across Southern California. It’s an ideal setup for early holiday decorating, outdoor shopping, or coastal walks before cooler Pacific systems approach later in December.
