San Diego, CA – Drivers along the coast should brace for patchy fog early Wednesday morning, with visibility potentially dropping enough to slow the morning commute before skies clear for a mild, sunny afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, fog is expected to develop after 11 p.m. Tuesday, becoming most dense in the pre-dawn hours Wednesday. Areas near Interstate 5, Harbor Drive, and coastal neighborhoods could see the most significant impacts, especially for early commuters and airport travelers. Winds will be light out of the south at 5 to 10 mph.

While the afternoon will warm to about 76°F under mostly sunny skies, the foggy start could make for hazardous travel before sunrise. Motorists should use low beams, reduce speed, and allow extra travel time.

The mild stretch continues through the weekend, with highs in the low-to-mid 70s and comfortable overnight lows in the low-to-mid 60s. Skies will trend cloudier at night with gradual clearing most days, making for ideal late-summer outdoor plans.
