San Antonio, Texas – Dangerous heat continues across South-Central Texas this week, with daytime highs near 100°F combining with humidity to push the heat index to 107°F. Scattered thunderstorms could offer brief relief but may also bring flooding downpours and lightning hazards through Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Service, storms will be most active in the afternoons and evenings, with the greatest chances Tuesday and Wednesday after 1 p.m. Rainfall amounts could reach half an inch in some neighborhoods, though localized downpours may drop much more in a short time.

Residents across Bexar, Comal, and Guadalupe counties should prepare for sudden storm development, particularly during the evening commute. Lightning, gusty winds, and isolated street flooding are possible, especially along low-lying areas and busy routes such as Loop 1604 and I-35.

City officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, hydrate often, and avoid driving through flooded roadways. Those working outdoors are advised to take frequent breaks and seek shade when possible.

Heat and storm risks remain in place through late week, with conditions improving slightly by the weekend. Additional advisories may be issued if storms intensify.
