San Antonio, TX – A Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 10 p.m. Monday as South-Central Texas faces critical fire weather conditions, threatening widespread areas from Del Rio to Austin.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, dry air, low humidity between 10% and 25%, and gusty south winds up to 35 mph are fueling a heightened fire risk across the region. The warning covers the Southern Edwards Plateau, Rio Grande Plains, Hill Country, and the I-35 corridor, including cities such as Uvalde, Kerrville, Eagle Pass, and Carrizo Springs.

Temperatures across the area are forecast to reach the upper 90s and low 100s Monday afternoon. Del Rio could see highs of 101°F, while San Antonio and Austin may peak at 92°F. Breezy conditions combined with extremely dry fuels are raising concern for rapid fire spread.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, keep vehicles off dry grass, and dispose of smoking materials properly. Fire officials emphasize that even small sparks can trigger large wildfires under current conditions.

Though a weak front Monday night may slightly reduce temperatures, fire weather risks are expected to persist. Rain remains unlikely through the week, prolonging elevated danger levels.
