SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Fall heat is tightening its grip on South Central Texas this week, sending temperatures soaring into the low to mid-90s through Saturday — nearly 10 degrees above seasonal norms. The unseasonable warmth will dominate much of the region, keeping roadways dry and air conditioners humming from the Hill Country to downtown.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, calm high pressure overhead is locking in dry skies and light winds through the end of the week. Daily highs are expected to reach 92°F to 94°F through Saturday with lows hovering near 70°F. East and southeast winds around 5–10 mph will do little to cool the afternoons, while humidity levels rise slightly toward the weekend.

Drivers along I-35 and Loop 410 should prepare for glare and hot pavement during peak hours, especially Friday and Saturday afternoons. Outdoor workers and event organizers should plan for heat safety — stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, and avoid prolonged time in direct sun. The dry air also increases grass fire risks in rural Bexar County, so residents are urged to follow local burn restrictions.

Relief arrives late Sunday as slightly cooler air filters south, trimming highs back into the upper 80s by early next week. Until then, expect sunny skies, dry roads, and summer-like afternoons across San Antonio and the surrounding region.
