San Antonio, TX – A welcome break from the humidity has settled over South-Central Texas today as cooler, drier air moves in behind a weak front. Highs will still climb into the upper 80s and low 90s along the I-35 corridor, but the air will feel noticeably less muggy compared to recent days.
According to the National Weather Service office in Austin-San Antonio, the biggest drop in temperatures will occur in the Hill Country, where highs will range from the upper 70s to mid-80s under mostly sunny skies. The Rio Grande Plains will remain the warmest, topping out in the mid-90s this afternoon. Light north to northeast breezes will help keep humidity levels lower through Wednesday, providing more comfortable conditions for outdoor activities.
By Thursday, moisture will begin to return from the Gulf, raising dew points and setting the stage for rain chances by late Friday into the weekend. According to forecasters, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms may develop Friday evening, especially along and east of I-35, with locally heavier rainfall possible near Austin and San Marcos.
While no widespread flooding is expected at this time, the NWS advises residents to stay alert for changing conditions heading into the weekend. Temperatures are expected to remain near seasonal norms, with nighttime lows in the mid-60s to near 70.
This stretch of drier air marks one of the first sustained breaks from the sticky heat of early fall, giving Texans a brief taste of cooler, more comfortable weather before late-week rain chances return.
