SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Just as fall decorations go up across the Alamo City, Mother Nature is bringing one last summer flash. Central and South Texas are heating up again, and this weekend could deliver near-record warmth under cloudless skies.
The National Weather Service in San Antonio reports highs climbing into the upper 80s Thursday and soaring to near 94°F by Saturday. East and southeast winds will stay calm, between 5 to 10 mph, offering little relief from the heat. Those heading out along I-10 or I-35 should pack extra water and sunscreen — especially during midday hours when temperatures peak.
Friday and Saturday will feature abundant sunshine, making it ideal for outdoor festivals, football tailgates, and late-season pool time. However, anyone spending extended periods outdoors should take precautions. Hydrate often and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
By Sunday, a subtle cool-down begins as highs ease to around 92°F, with light northeast breezes signaling the start of a gradual pattern shift. Early next week brings slightly lower highs in the mid- to upper-80s, keeping skies mostly sunny and evenings comfortably mild.
This stretch of late-summer heat won’t last long. Long-range models hint at a more noticeable cooldown late next week — just in time for final Halloween preparations and pumpkin patch visits.
