San Antonio, Texas – Drivers across South Central Texas are waking up to dangerous travel conditions Saturday morning as thick fog blankets highways and neighborhoods from San Antonio to surrounding Hill Country communities, sharply reducing visibility during the early commute.
According to the National Weather Service office in Austin–San Antonio, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for southern and southwestern portions of South Central Texas, including Bexar County, through 10 a.m. Visibilities are expected to drop to one-quarter mile or less at times, especially along major corridors such as Interstate 35, Interstate 10, and Loop 1604.
The fog is most widespread across San Antonio, New Braunfels, Pleasanton, Hondo, and areas west toward Uvalde and Del Rio. Rural roadways and low-lying areas may see the thickest fog, increasing the risk of sudden slowdowns and rear-end crashes. Local emergency officials urge drivers to slow down, leave extra following distance, and use low-beam headlights to improve visibility without causing glare.
Morning flights at San Antonio International Airport could also experience minor delays due to low ceilings and visibility. Conditions should gradually improve by late morning as temperatures rise and winds increase.
The National Weather Service advises delaying non-essential travel until fog lifts and reminds motorists that additional advisories could be issued if conditions persist longer than expected.
