San Antonio, Texas – Morning clouds gave way to blazing sunshine across south-central Texas today, and the heat is only ramping up. Carrizo Springs topped out near 103°, while Uvalde, San Antonio, and Austin hovered at or above 100°. With heat indices reaching 105°, residents are urged to take precautions through the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, hot and humid conditions will persist through at least Friday, with little rain relief and highs from 97° to 103° across the region. Heat index values will remain dangerous, especially in areas with limited cloud cover or wind.

Triple-digit highs are expected daily in Carrizo Springs, Uvalde, and Pearsall, while Austin, San Marcos, and New Braunfels will remain in the upper 90s. Overnight lows won’t drop below the mid-70s, offering minimal relief for residents and putting added strain on cooling systems.

Limit outdoor work during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and check on elderly neighbors. Children and pets should never be left in parked vehicles. With minimal rain chances through Sunday and elevated heat risks, cooling centers may open in some counties.

Heat advisories may continue into early next week if conditions persist.
