San Antonio, Texas – Residents across the Texas Hill Country, the Interstate 35 corridor, and the southern Edwards Plateau are under a Flood Watch until 7 p.m. CDT Sunday as heavy rainfall continues to impact the region. Drivers should prepare for dangerous road conditions due to rising water and are reminded to “turn around, don’t drown” when encountering flooded areas.

According to the US National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio, additional rainfall of one to three inches is possible across the Flood Watch area, with isolated spots potentially seeing up to six inches. This excessive runoff could lead to dangerous flash flooding in low-lying areas, along rivers and creeks, and across roadways.

Cities like Austin, San Antonio, Fredericksburg, and Llano are within the affected zones, where localized heavy downpours may rapidly swell waterways. Flash flooding poses a significant risk to travel, with potential closures on major routes including sections of I-35 and state highways throughout the Hill Country. Residents in flood-prone communities should secure valuables, charge mobile devices, and have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts. This watch follows recent significant rainfall events in the region, intensifying the flood risk on already saturated ground.

The Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 p.m. CDT tonight, with the National Weather Service continuing to monitor conditions for any further advisories or warnings.
