San Angelo residents should brace for a chance of late-night thunderstorms before clear skies and rising heat dominate much of the week. Storm activity could slow travel on U.S. Highway 87 and local roads Sunday evening, with gusty winds expected at times. Drivers are urged to use caution and avoid flooded low-water crossings.

According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, a 30 percent chance of storms will linger through late Sunday night. Skies should gradually clear after midnight, leaving behind calmer conditions and a low near 69 degrees. South-southeast winds will range from 5 to 10 mph, with occasional gusts up to 20 mph.

Monday, September 15, brings a return to sunshine and higher heat. Highs will reach near 91 degrees, with light southeast winds. Outdoor workers and students should plan for hot afternoons as temperatures push into the low 90s by midweek.

By Tuesday, conditions remain stable and sunny, with highs again near 91. Wednesday continues the warming trend, with temperatures climbing toward 92. Winds will stay light but steady, offering little relief from daytime heat.

Another slight storm chance could return late in the week, though the majority of the period looks dry and hot. Residents should stay hydrated, limit outdoor exposure in the afternoons, and monitor for any updated advisories.

Warnings for tonight’s storms remain in effect until late evening. More updates could follow if stronger cells develop.
