Salt Lake City, UT – A series of storm systems will bring widespread mountain snowfall to Utah over the next week, with the most significant impacts expected across southern Utah through Monday morning. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City, 8 to 12 inches of snow may accumulate in the higher elevations tonight through Monday, with more rounds of winter weather expected midweek.
According to NWS, the first system arriving Saturday night will deliver periods of moderate to heavy snowfall across the southern mountains, with rain falling below roughly 7,500 feet. By Sunday afternoon, the area of precipitation will expand northeastward into the central and northern mountains before tapering off early Monday.
Another system is forecast to arrive Tuesday into Wednesday, likely colder and potentially capable of producing higher snow accumulations for southern Utah. Snow levels could drop significantly — as low as 5,000 to 7,000 feet — which may introduce impacts to some valley locations, though forecasters stress that uncertainty remains high for midweek totals and timing.
A third storm system may affect the region Thursday into Friday, but forecast confidence is low as models continue to diverge on track and strength. If the storm materializes, additional mountain snow is possible, with the highest impacts likely focused again on southern Utah.
Drivers traveling through mountain passes should prepare for winter driving conditions throughout the week. Chain controls, reduced visibility, and slick roads will be possible during heavier bursts of snow, especially during nighttime and early morning hours.
