Salt Lake City, Utah – Drivers headed through northern and central Utah on Sunday should brace for snow-covered roads and slick travel, especially in the mountains. A winter storm will bring accumulating snow from Sunday morning through late Sunday evening, impacting holiday return travel across key corridors like I-15 and US-89.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, snow will begin early Sunday and continue into the evening. Northern valleys will see light amounts, with east-facing benches like Logan, Brigham City, and Evanston expecting 1–2 inches. Along the Wasatch Front, Salt Lake City and Ogden may see under an inch, while areas like Park City, Heber City, and the Cottonwoods could pick up 4–8 inches, with locally higher totals.

The Utah Department of Transportation urges drivers to check road conditions and be prepared for traction restrictions in the Cottonwoods and Wasatch Plateau. A winter survival kit and extra travel time are advised, especially for those heading through higher elevations.

This minor winter weather event still poses risks to travelers as snow will steadily accumulate throughout the day. Additional advisories may be issued if totals increase or timing shifts.
