Salt Lake City, Utah – A series of storms could bring significant mountain snow and possible valley accumulations along Interstate 80 beginning Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, dry and mild conditions will continue through the weekend under high pressure. Temperatures are expected to average around 10 degrees above seasonal norms by Sunday.
An active weather pattern returns early next week, with multiple storm systems moving through northern Utah beginning Monday. Forecasters say Utah’s mountains are increasingly likely to receive significant snowfall from this series of systems.
Minor snow accumulations in some valleys are also becoming more likely as colder air filters into the region. While specific totals were not immediately provided, mountain travel impacts are possible, especially along Interstate 80 through Parleys Canyon and Interstate 15 north of Salt Lake City.
Communities including Ogden, Provo, and Park City may see changing conditions Monday into midweek as each storm wave passes through. Snow-covered roads and reduced visibility are possible in higher elevations.
Officials say the pattern will remain unsettled beyond Monday, with additional rounds of precipitation possible through the middle of next week.
Commuters, students, and ski traffic traveling along I-80, I-15, and U.S. Highway 40 should prepare for winter driving conditions as snow chances increase.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts for refined snowfall amounts and timing details as the active pattern develops.
