Salt Lake City, Utah – A strengthening area of high pressure will bring a stretch of dry and unusually mild weather to northern Utah this week, with temperatures running 10 to 15 degrees above average across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, high pressure building across the western United States will dominate the weather pattern through at least Friday. This setup will lead to continued dry conditions, light winds and mostly clear skies from the Wasatch Front to western valleys.

Daytime high temperatures in Salt Lake City are forecast to climb into the low to mid-50s, well above typical early February values. Similar warmth is expected along major corridors including I-15, I-80 and I-215, with Provo, Park City and Logan also seeing above-normal highs. Farther south, Cedar City and St. George are forecast to reach the upper 50s to near 70 degrees by midweek.

While the warmer weather may feel springlike, the National Weather Service notes that light winds and clear skies will support continued valley haze, especially during the morning hours. Air quality concerns may increase at times along urban corridors where pollutants can become trapped under the stable atmosphere.

The 5-day outlook shows little day-to-day change, with sunshine dominating Tuesday through Thursday and only minor cloud increases by Friday. No precipitation is expected during this period.

For commuters and travelers, dry roads and mild temperatures will limit weather-related impacts along I-15 and I-80, a notable contrast to typical winter conditions. However, reduced visibility from haze may be noticeable during overnight and early morning hours.

The National Weather Service advises residents to enjoy the mild stretch while remaining aware that winter weather can return quickly once the high-pressure pattern breaks.

Forecast updates will continue as conditions evolve later this month.
