Salt Lake City, Utah – A Weather Alert is in effect as dry and stable conditions continue across northern Utah through Thursday, followed by a cold front expected to bring cooler temperatures and mountain snow Friday into Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, persistent valley inversions will remain in place through Thursday, maintaining hazy conditions in inversion-prone valleys. Despite the stagnant air, high temperatures will remain within about 5 degrees of seasonal averages across much of Utah and southwest Wyoming.

Changes arrive late Friday as a cold front moves through the region, helping to mix out valley inversions and bring a shift to colder, more unsettled conditions. While most valley locations are expected to remain dry, modest snow accumulations are likely in the mountains, especially across central and southern Utah.

Forecasters note that northern Utah valleys should see limited precipitation, with impacts mainly confined to higher elevations. Mountain travel may be affected during periods of snow, particularly along passes and higher-elevation roadways late Friday into Saturday.

The National Weather Service advises travelers and outdoor recreationists to monitor forecast updates, especially those planning trips into the mountains this weekend.

Additional updates will be issued as the timing and snowfall details become clearer.
