Salt Lake City, UT – A mix of rain and snow is expected to sweep through Salt Lake City this weekend, impacting travel plans ahead of Thanksgiving. Forecasters predict that precipitation will begin as rain Saturday evening before transitioning to snow by Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday will bring cloudy skies with a high near 57 degrees. Rain is expected to develop overnight, with a 90% chance of precipitation. Winds will shift from the southeast at 8–11 mph during the day to a calm southwest breeze by night.

Sunday could pose challenges for morning travelers, as rain will mix with snow before tapering off by late morning. Temperatures will drop, with highs reaching only 46 degrees. Drivers should exercise caution on local roads, especially along I-15, where slippery conditions are likely.

Looking ahead, Monday through Tuesday will continue to see chances of rain and snow as colder air settles into the region. Monday’s high will reach 46 degrees, but overnight lows will drop near freezing. Thanksgiving Day promises a break from the precipitation, with partly sunny skies and a high near 37 degrees.

Residents and visitors should plan for delays, dress warmly, and prepare vehicles for winter weather. The National Weather Service advises monitoring forecasts and road conditions closely as Thanksgiving travel ramps up.
