SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento residents may see scattered showers Thursday night into Friday morning before skies clear and warm, dry conditions take over for the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, there’s a 20 percent chance of rain late Thursday, increasing to 30 percent Friday morning. Any rainfall is expected to be light, with less than a tenth of an inch possible. Winds will shift from the south to northwest at 5 mph Friday evening as skies clear.

Thursday’s high will climb near 89, followed by cooler temperatures Friday, topping out around 79. By Saturday, conditions turn sunny and dry, with highs rebounding into the upper 80s and reaching near 90 by Sunday. Nighttime lows will hover in the mid-60s.

Drivers should use caution on wet roads during the Thursday night and Friday morning commute. The brief rain system may cause slick spots, especially on Highways 50 and 99.

The National Weather Service notes that another slight chance of showers could return Tuesday, but most of the next week looks seasonably warm and dry.
